We Need to Talk About Kevin (2011) dir. Lynne Ramsay

A woman struggles to piece her life together in the aftermath of a horrible deed committed by her son, flashing back-and-forth through their strained relationship. A marvelous piece of filmmaking, directed by one of the most promising auteur directors working today, Lynne Ramsay.
Adapted by Ramsay for the screen from the book of the same name by Lionel Shriver.
Remarkable performances all around, most notably from Tilda Swinton in the lead role of Eva. Masterclass in cinematography and use of color.
Various thematic and stylistic elements add another dimension and pace to the film. A mixed chronology gradually reveals the full story to the viewer. Every second of every scene, and every inch of every frame, is used wisely.
Themes of parenthood, motherhood, psychopathy, family and happiness. Dark, at times nihilistic blending of several genres – thriller, drama and horror.
Opened to favorable reviews from critics all around.
Musical score composed by Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood.
