The Tenant (1976) dir. Roman Polanski

The Tenant (Le Locataire): After renting an apartment in Paris, a Polish immigrant becomes obsessed with the suicidal previous tenant that lived there. An enigmatic and at times discomforting psychological horror film which has gained a cult following since it’s release. Includes themes of paranoia, alienation, conspiracy and degrading sanity.
Camera work characteristic of the director. Remarkable sense of mystery, thrill and mystique, garnished by a claustrophobic at times approach.
Considered as the last film of Polanski’sApartment Trilogy“. The director also plays the uncredited lead role of the quiet Polish bureaucrat Trelkovsky.
