Promised Land (2012) dir. Gus Van Sant

A natural gas corporation faces trouble when trying to buy the drilling rights in a small rural, economically struggling Pennsylvania town. A well-directed film on the topics of fracking and environmental issues. A two-sided look into the reality of modern economics and capitalism, taking shape into a well-built narrative and interesting storyline.
Well scripted by co-writers and lead actors John Krasinski and Matt Damon, story written by Dave Eggers. Heavily criticized and highly controversial upon release by energy companies, for it’s depiction of the fracking method, and for it’s financing source – a production company wholly owned by the UAE.
Excellent direction and pacing from Gus Van Sant.
