Miller’s Crossing (1990) dir. Joel & Ethan Coen

Tom Regan, the right-hand man of an Irish crime boss, tries to find balance and evade death in a complicated power struggle between rival gangs in Prohibition-era America. A Neo-Noir crime thriller with some black comedy elements in the unmistakeable style of the Coen Brothers.
Outstanding direction of a very intricate narrative of events, with the signature directorial techniques and shot compositions of Joel and Ethan Coen. Wonderful cinematography from Barry Sonnenfeld.
Many references and influence from Classic mobster films and literature, especially from the Film Noir period.
Musical score by Carter Burwell, in his third collaboration with the Coens.
