La Strada (1954) dir. Federico Fellini

A neglected and naive young girl is sold to a brute travelling entertainer, who abuses her as the two tour Italy and meet his rival along the way.  Described as one of the most influential films of all time, and by Fellini himself as the work that he feels “most attached” to. Plays on the “Beauty and the Beast” theme by exploring the finest aspects of humanity through the touching character portraits by Giulietta Masina and Anthony Quinn.
A must-watch film for students of cinema and casual movie fans alike. Seen by film historians as a marking point for the transition from the Neorealism movement of the 1940-50’s.
