Composed almost entirely of a montage of still images, Chris Marker’s The Jetty or La Jetée is one of the most influential works in science fiction. The 28-minute experimental short film (or featurette) tells the story of time travel – before, during and in the aftermath of a Nuclear War. Memories, love and symbolism, all told through narration and imagery. Visually stunning, thought-provoking and very powerful. Inspired many others after it, most notably Terry Gilliam‘s Twelve Monkeys (1995).
