Into the Wild (2007) dir. Sean Penn

After graduating from a prestigious university, a young man decides to leave all of his possessions behind and hitchhike to live in the wilderness of Alaska. Based on the true life story of traveller Christopher McCandless and his life spent in the Alaskan wilderness in the early 1990’s. Deep, true and beautiful. A story about freedom, youth, decision, survival, travels and adventure, rolled into a brilliant and philosophical independent film. Memorable imagery and great cinematography, filmed, in part, on location in Cantwell, Alaska. A Must-See Film, emblematic of American indie culture.
Notable performance from lead Emile Hirsch, coupled with solid and confident direction from Penn. Wonderful soundtrack from Eddie Vedder!
Adapted from the 1996 non-fiction book “Into the Wild” by Jon Krakauer.
