I Saw the Devil (2010) dir. Jee-woon Kim

I Saw The Devil (Angmareul boatda): In a gruesome and fast-paced tale of revenge, a government agent avenges a serial killer for brutally murdering his fiancée. Vengeance blurs the lines between good and evil as the film delves deep into the dark corners of the human condition. A superb Korean psychological thriller with distinct horror undertones, much in the manner of Oldboy (2003).
Very well directed with supreme cinematography. Great pacing, editing and tone throughout. Well received by critics worldwide. Captivating, stark, unforgettable and distinctly sad. Although extreme, the violence in this film is balanced with the tone and never exploited.
