Eyes Without a Face (1960) dir. Georges Franju

Les Yeux sans visage: A surgeon goes to extreme lengths to help his daughter repair her disfigured face. A trendsetting classic of European Horror cinema. Dark, chiaroscuro surrealism with a strong tinge of German Expressionism.
Strangely beautiful and gruesome at the same time. Tense, chilling and atmospheric – a film experience that is hard to forget. Manages to transcend the boundaries of the horror genre.
Directed by Georges Franju, one of the big names in the French New Wave movement (Nouvelle Vague).
A great must-see film that inspired so many others. Highly influential.
