Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004) dir. Michel Gondry

A recently split-up couple undergoes a procedure to erase their relationship from their memories. A beautiful, touching and heartfelt film with a unique plot and original premise. A very rare breed of cinema, ‘Eternal Sunshine’ manages to draw the viewer in with pure emotion. Excellent use of a scattered chronotope.
Gorgeous cinematography with masterful direction. Memorable surreal imagery. Possibly the best career performances from both lead actors – a remarkable Jim Carrey in the male lead role as Joel, and Kate Winslet as the free-spirited Clementine. A supporting cat which includes the likes of Elijah Wood, David Cross and Kirsten Dunst.
Philosophical and inspiring. A highly acclaimed, definite Must-Watch drama film which strays away from the traditional romance narrative.
One of the great films of the 21st century.
Winner of the Best Writing and Original Screenplay Oscar. The title  is a quotation from Eloisa to Abelard, a poem by Alexander Pope
