Cannes 2017: Official Selection (All Selected Films!)

The list of selected films is out! The 70th anniversary edition of the Cannes International Film Festival is scheduled to be held from 17 to 28 May, 2017. Here’s a full list of all the selections – ‘In Competition‘ for the Palme D’Or, outside the competition and special screenings, as well as the very interesting ‘Un Certain Regard‘ section!

There are definitely some very interesting nominations! The competition for the Palme D’Or will include the newest films from Michael Haneke, Lynne Ramsay, Andrey Zvyagintsev, Sofia Coppola, Todd Haynes, Yorgos Lanthimos, Fatih Akin and Noah Baumbach, to name a few.

Un Certain Regard

The ‘Un Certain Regard‘ section includes films that are “original and different” and seek international recognition, non-traditional films with a different style and vision. These include the newest film from Japanese auteur Kiyoshi Kurosawa, Bulgarian director Stephan Komandarev taxicab-set film Directions, and Mexican director Michel Franco’s April’s Daughter. The Prix Un Certain Regard was introduced in 1998, and will be awarded this year to one of the films below:

Some interesting works are due to be screen outside of the competition as well! Films by Takashi Miike and Agnes Varda stand out, and Arnaud Desplechin’s Les Fantômes d’Ismaël will be the film that opens the festival on May 17.
