Blow Out (1981) dir. Brian De Palma

A sound recordist accidentally records evidence of a crime, but when it is covered up as an accident, it is up to him to unravel the conspiracy. Excellent build of tension through a complicated plot with a new spin on the theme. Exciting, thrilling and intriguing from the start. Masterclass mending of sound and picture to create a unique atmosphere.
Great acting from John Travolta and support from Nancy Allen and John Lithgow.
Noted for it’s superb direction and interesting choice of camera angles throughout. Numerous homages to films such as Antonioni’s Blow-Up (1966) and Coppola’s The Conversation (1974).
